André Holland stars as Huey Newton, the iconic leader of the Black Panther Party, in the gripping first trailer for the new Apple TV+ series, "The Big Cigar."

Set to premiere on May 17 with its initial two episodes, the series boasts an impressive cast including Alessandro Nivola, Tiffany Boone, PJ Byrne, Marc Menchaca, Moses Ingram, Rebecca Dalton, Olli Haaskivi, Jordane Christie, and Glynn Turman.

"The Big Cigar" is adapted from a magazine article by Joshuah Bearman, who is also an executive producer on the series. The narrative unfolds the extraordinary tale of Hollywood's radicalism clashing with social revolution. The plot centers on Huey P. Newton, founder of the Black Panther Party, who crafts a daring escape from the FBI to Cuba with the help of prominent producer Bert Schneider. Their elaborate escape plan involves the setup of a fictitious movie production, which encounters numerous setbacks.

Janine Sherman Barrois serves as the showrunner of the series, which is produced by Warner Bros. Television. Barrois, along with her Folding Chair Productions, holds an overall deal with the studio. She is joined in executive production by Jim Hecht, who wrote the series’ opening episode, along with Bearman, Joshua Davis, and Arthur Spector from Epic, their production company.

Following its two-episode debut, "The Big Cigar" will release new episodes every Friday, concluding on June 14. Check out the trailer below.
